No More Navigators

NMN (Matt Jure)

The band formed in 2009 as a live outfit and then went on to record their debut EP Home at Brixton’s Dairy Studios with engineer Charlie Hugall of Black Math at the helm and with final mixdowns courtesy of Rich at Hipnosys.

NMN have headlined top London venues including 333 Mother in Shoreditch, the Monto Water Rats in King’s Cross and the O2 Academy in Islington. As a solo artist, Matthew Jure has gigged around the world in countries as far afield as Thailand and Brazil and his song Behind The Smile features on the soundtrack to 2010 US movie Starlight & Superfish in which he also stars.

Playing music producer Day V Lately, Matthew met Spencer Hickson, who runs Tactal Hots Music. Spencer is currently working with other THM artists as well as Matt Brooks of The Cut Up Boys on a No More Navigators remix album – Home: Rebuilt.

Home tracklisting:

>>> Home – a rock monster tamed by dirty bass grooves and thundering vocals reminiscent of a fired-up Julian Cope. A video is in pre-production with Rob Hess (Starlight & Superfish, The Million Dollar Question).

>>> Two Minus One – a breezy slice of shimmery pop that has been likened to The Maccabees with a hint of Jarvis Cocker. The video, directed by Kid Carpet’s long-time promo collaborator Bob Blunden of Limbic Productions, is online at: vimeo.com/26371248.

>>> She Wore Black – with shades of folk troubadour Ray LaMontagne, this song’s cascading cymbals and haunting guitars evoke the melancholy mood of a sun setting on a relationship. The video, by Carlo Ortu for Sugarspun Pictures http://www.sugarspunpictures.com/index.htm, is online at: http://www.vimeo.com/27867968.
